Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken the whole world at the political, economic, educational and social levels. This event has also put forward issues of linguistic nature. The language that seeks to adapt itself to the social and historical context has recorded the unfolded changes. The pandemic has given rise to the creation of words and phrases of various kinds that crystallize the experience of the subjects at a very particular moment in their lives. A corpus of terms compiled in 2020 from French, Argentine and Uruguayan media enables the author to build up an inventory of new syntagma and words. Then, an analysis of the processes of the formation of the emergent units is proposed. On the basis of a contrastive approach, the similarities and differences between the creations in French and Spanish are observed.
