Abstract

The principal objective of this article is to describe the conflict on
the factory called Fabrica de Hilados y Tejidos San José –municipality of San
Agustín Etla, Oaxaca, Mexico- through judicial archives and the memory of
the industrial workers. Since de sixties decade, the factory workers raised
two opposed factions, named Adjudicatarios and Cooperativistas, whose
carried the juridical and political tensions to the definitive factory close.
These factories had an important role on the local economic transformations,
also ritualized on the dead’s festivities, annually celebrated in the beginning
of November. I propose to put into history the conflict events with the
existing sociocultural expressions (always in change), to a memory and a
local culture that had been modelled through economic and sociocultural
processes, since the industrialization of Mexico, during the benefactor state
on the Twentieth Century, until the crisis and rise of neoliberal economy.
