Education and pandemic: international organizations and business organizations outlining the “new normal”

The Covid 19 pandemic had a substantial impact on public education in the countries on the periphery of capitalism. The health emergency caused the interruption of face-to-face school daily life and the migration to remote formats of pedagogical interaction. The effect of this process on school learning was the most evident and addressed result. In Brazil, almost immediately, civil society organizations representing business interests came together to produce diagnoses and guidelines for post-pandemic education, with strong support and alignment with international organizations. Processes of open and covert privatization of training, resizing of the work process in daily school life, deepening of the precariousness of teaching work, massive incorporation of educational technology, standardization and lightening of content, among others, are part of that horizon and they are tributaries of business reforms in education. The reconversion of public education towards training formats that are increasingly regulated by the market constitutes the axis of the successive proposals prepared by international organizations and business organizations over the last two and a half years that, embodied in numerous documents, are the subject of reflection in this work.
